The Pony Pledge

In February and March our wonderful volunteers are raising funds for the well being and upkeep of our ponies by pledging to support, fund raise or donate. You can join us by hosting an activity, or simply spreading the word. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Cake/Bake/Produce Sale

  • Coffee Morning

  • Host a Roast

  • Sponsored event – walk, run, silence, swim etc

  • Garage Sale (at home or using facebook marketplace etc)

  • Spring clean wardrobe clear out and sale

  • Unwanted Christmas present sale

  • Pancake flipping contest

  • Car cleaning

  • Skill swap (IT/Gardening/Shopping/music lesson)

  • Unwanted tack sale

  • 30 day challenge  - set yourself a challenge of walking a certain distance each day, skipping, not smoking/drinking

  • Join the 200 club – or persuade someone else to. We currently have about 100 places to fill.

  • Adopt a Pony for someone

  • Collect used printer cartridges from home/work/friend’s workplace – we get £1 per cartridge recycled!

  • Spread the word - Aim to talk to 5+ people in your network about what you do at RDA and how beneficial it is for the riders – maybe use someone else’s activity to start the conversation

  • Raise awareness of other people’s fundraising – share social media posts, put up posters, word of mouth etc

No prior experience with horses is necessary! Volunteering may involve helping with our riders and horses by leading or side walking, grooming, tacking up, feeding, rugging up and turning out.  Other activities might include fundraising, event coordination or gardening. We offer comprehensive training and work with volunteers to find the activities they are comfortable with. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are flexible, team players and willing to learn new skills.

We have a diverse range of volunteers including teachers, nurses, students, those who have retired and people who simply wan to pursue life long interests and have a passion for supporting others. Our volunteers have a strong sense of community and are valued members of the The Pembroke Centre. You will have an opportunity to contribute to the team and benefit from a support network for your own physical and mental well being.

If you feel you have any of these skills and are willing to spare a few hours each week, please reach out to us at: volunteering.pembrokecentre@gmail.com.
